Heavenly! A month before her film 'Monica Z' opens in Sweden on September 13th, Edda Magnason sings "Sakta vi gå hem genom stan” (Slowly we walk through town) LIVE on SVT's Allsång på Skansen, Stockholm, August 13, 2013, on the last show of 2013. Dynamic Swedish fashion forward retailer H&M opens store at Aventura Mall today - Finally! Store near me is located near Bloomingdale's on far south side of Aventura Mall; @hm, @iamdwerbowy

Despite the fact that it's been known since mid-July that the Aventura Mall less than two miles south of me would be opening a large 25,000 square foot Hennes and Mauritz -H&M's- the Mall's official website hasn't been updated as you might expect it would be to accurately reflect the store's grand opening today, and show customers where it is on either a stationary or interactive map. http://www.aventuramall.com/ Nice going!
Way to embrace the technology!
says that the H&M is on... "Level: upper level."

But located next to what? Near what major anchor store? On what side of the Mall???
Such obvious questions, yes?
Good thing I'm here to answer those questions in an intelligent fashion.

Actually, the truth is that H&M will be located on levels 2 and 3, near Bloomingdale’s, above, on the far south side of the Mall.

If you're heading over there for the High Noon opening today, like I am, be smart.
Whatever you do, DON'T park near the Bloomingdale's or you will be circling forever.
Instead, park closer to near the Sear's and come into the Mall near the entrance to the AMC 24 Theatres and the Starbucksand save yourself some time and aggravation.
You're welcome!

If you see this when you walk into the Mall, you successfully followed my directions!

Lanvin to design exclusive collection for H&M this autumn

Received this bit of interesting fashion news from Stockholm this morning from our friends at Hennes & Mauritz via their press office.

H&M Designer Collaboration 2010 - The Dream

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGd4d2fCljI

LANVIN TO DESIGN EXCLUSIVE COLLECTION FOR H&M THIS AUTUMN

H&M is proud to announce that its next designer collaboration will be with Lanvin, one of the most influential brands of the 21st century. Designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide.

The collection of both womenswear and menswear will be revealed to the world on November 2, just three weeks before the clothes hit the store, making the launch of Lanvin for H&M among the most anticipated fashion events of the year.

“H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.” Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin.

“We are thrilled about Lanvin’s collection for H&M, it is such an exciting moment. Lanvin will bring to H&M a luxurious French tradition that is also modern and playful. It is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men. The launch in November is going to be full of wonderful surprises.” Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M.

Since joining Lanvin as artistic director in 2001, Alber Elbaz has transformed the Paris-based label, founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin, into a fashion powerhouse bursting with ideas and creativity. Alber Elbaz has pioneered there some of the biggest trends of the past decade - ribbon, bows, pearls, raw edges, sumptuous colour and metallic embellishment among many others. Alber Elbaz has a mastery of cut and an instinct for cloth which leaves a very personal signature on his work, ensuring that all Lanvin clothes are instantly recognizable. Since the introduction of a new menswear line in 2006, Alber Elbaz has also transformed the male wardrobe, bringing a relaxed elegance to men’s clothing which is as special as the womenswear.

Lanvin is the latest brand to collaborate with H&M, with previous collections designed by the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garçons and Sonia Rykiel. In a new twist, the Lanvin for H&M collection will be revealed to the world through a special film which will be launched on November 2. The film will be available for all to see online at www.hm.com. Following the film’s debut, it will be just three weeks before customers have the chance to get their hands on a covetable piece of Lanvin for H&M.

Formidable! Sonia Rykiel Pour H&M'S Unforgettable Paris Party; video you have to see to believe

Received this package via email early this morning,
about 3:16 a.m. to be precise, but wanted to wait
a few hours to catch my breath, as I'm just trying
to come to grips with how great the 2009 Victoria's
Secret Fashion Show
was last night on CBS,
perhaps the single best-produced show on TV
this year other than the Emmy's with Neil Patrick
Harris
or the Pilot for USA's instant hit, White Collar.

(Plus, trying to get the image of the amazing

Behati
Prinsloo
out of my head.
I've got a post on her coming-up in a few days.)

As you watch this beautifully produced video of the
party last night in Paris for the launch of the
much-antipated
SONIA RYKIEL POUR H&M line,
keep one thing firmly in mind.

Despite having more time, money and resources
to throw at it to make it a spectacle, there's ZERO
chance that the NFL will have anything even
remotely this clever or jaw-dropping for the
Super Bowl down
here in two months.
(I'm thinking Saints 37, Colts 31, right now.)

As I watched this video in amazement, knowing
that she was there, somewhere, I couldn't help
but scan for longtime film fave
Kate Bosworth
in the background in every frame.

When I finally saw her, once again, I couldn't help
but wish that she'd put on a little more weight,
but that's me. I really think there's a truly amazing
actress inside
of her, with range that would be
entirely self-evident with
the right nuanced script,
but wow, her longtime skinny
persona really
makes it hard to concentrate on
what she's
actually saying and doing up on the
screen
sometimes.

At times, it's almost as distracting as her natural

and amazing good looks.

http://justjared.buzznet.com/2009/12/02/kate-bosworth-holds-onto-hm/

I have a lot of similar feelings script-wise
about the
delightfully curvier and funnier
Heather Graham.
Is there a reason why nobody else has thought

of casting the two of them as sisters or cousins?
It's obvious!

Heather
as the older, funnier California cousin,
Kate the self-serious Bostonian cousin who
needs to desperately break out of her shell
a bit before
her perfectionist mode completely
alienates
everyone she knows.
So, when an opportunity presents itself one day,

they take a trip together to Europe when
fashion
exec Heather heads to Paris...

from the H&M press release
I received this morning:

FANTASY, MAGIC, FASHION!

SONIA RYKIEL POUR H&M'S UNFORGETTABLE PARIS PARTY

Kate Bosworth, Eva Herzigova and Nadja Auermann partied together with fashionistas in a magical world in Paris last night to celebrate the launch of Sonia Rykiel pour H&M. The Grand Palais, one of the city’s most famous buildings, was transformed into a Parisian fantasy land for around 2,000 guests. Among them were stars such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Ellen von Unwerth and Emanuelle Béart, who walked through an enchanted forest before arriving at a recreation of Saint Germain, the spiritual home of Sonia Rykiel. Then, seated under a specially made Eiffel Tower, guests were given a preview of the Sonia Rykiel pour H&M lingerie collection, which debuts in around 1,500 H&M stores worldwide from December 5, as well as the knitwear collection for women and girls, which arrives in around 200 stores on February 20, 2010.

“It was all about the brilliance of Paris and of Sonia Rykiel. We wanted to give our guests a story-like experience, let them enter a fantasy world where they could discover the Sonia Rykiel pour H&M collections and let themselves go”, says Nathalie Rykiel, artistic director and president of Sonia Rykiel.

“It was the most magical evening. Sonia Rykiel is so totally Parisian, the epitome of chic. This is the spirit of the Sonia Rykiel pour H&M collections that shone through at the party last night. It was such a thrill to work with a fashion icon like Sonia Rykiel. We are really happy with the collections, which we feel is 100 percent Sonia Rykiel. The lingerie collection is really the perfect Christmas gift”, says Margareta van den Bosch, H&M’s creative advisor.

Held on the first night of December, the H&M party for Sonia Rykiel truly marked the start of the festive season. Embodying the essence of Paris as much as Sonia Rykiel herself, the glittering city inside the Grand Palais was like a sparkling and surreal theme park for adults. The collections were displayed on floats which emerged from a recreation of the Arc de Triomphe, with a Parisian funfair as backdrop.

“I’ve always been a big fan of Sonia Rykiel. To me she is so feminine, and so wonderfully dramatic, like a big glittery bow on a dress. It’s crazy here, I wasn’t expecting this. It’s like a mini carnival,” says Kate Bosworth.

“I love Sonia Rykiel, and I love the association with H&M. Sonia Rykiel is like a revolution in fashion. She makes sexy clothes, but ones that are very modern, cool and feminine. She’s super-clever and super-talented and I have big, big admiration for her,” says Jean Paul Gaultier.

“I think it’s very Sonia Rykiel to have her presentation with H&M here. She’s so Paris, and I don’t think she could have had it anywhere else,” says Eva Herzigova.

Swedish retailer H&M plans 2 stores for Central Florida

Orlando's fashion scene will get a little more hip this fall, when Hennes & Mauritz -- more commonly known as H&M- opens its first Florida stores here.

As part of a 225-store international expansion this year, Central Florida will get a double dose of the Swedish clothing retailer that sells trendy, inexpensive fashions.

H&M first said it would open in Florida Mall, then last week announced a second location for Sanford's Seminole Towne Center. Florida Mall officials said their H&M should open in late October or early November. Seminole Towne Center's target opening date is Nov. 1.

"I couldn't be more excited," said Anna Powers, a 30-year-old Orlando resident who blogs about shopping and fashion. "It is going to inject more of that kind of New York, urban city vibe we lack a bit."

H&M has a huge and loyal following throughout the country. Founded in Sweden more than 60 years ago, H&M first opened stores in the United States in 2000 and now has 169 stores here. H&M has 1,700 stores in 33 countries around the world. Last month, it opened a location in Beijing.

The retailer has made a name for itself with "fast fashion" -- cheap versions of just-off-the-runway styles, many designed in-house. Stores whip customers into a buying frenzy with "capsule collections" -- limited quantities of inexpensive clothing from well-known designers such as Stella McCartney. Like new store openings, the collections generate buzz and crowds that line up outside stores hours before they open.

"I think they really understand that people who have a real urge to follow fashion often are working on beer budgets even if they have champagne appetites," said David Wolfe, creative director for The Doneger Group, a New York-based fashion consulting firm.

Wolfe said he doesn't think other stores will suffer as a result of H&M entering the market. "H&M is so unique in what they do, they don't cannibalize other people's business," he said.

The company, which recently was selling tops as low as $8 online and dresses for between $20 and $25, says it ensures low prices in several ways: efficient distribution, large volume purchases and a limited number of middlemen.

Despite its loyal shoppers, H&M has struggled along with just about everyone else in the retail industry. The company's same store sales have decreased recently. Most recently, its March same-store sales were down 3 percent.

H&M spokeswoman Nicole Christie said in an e-mail H&M's business model "helps us to stay balanced even during economic downturns." She also noted some advantages to expanding during a recession, such as improved employee retention and good real-estate opportunities.

Wolfe said he thinks H&M will enter the Orlando market just at the right time, providing an option to people who "have been thinking, 'Fashion can't be a part of my life any more, it costs too much.'"

Christie described Central Florida as "a strong retail market" with many customers who have clamored for a local location.

Powers, who shopped weekly at H&M in New York City as a graduate student, said she'll probably visit the Florida Mall H&M a couple times each month.

Meanwhile, she noted that some of her friends here in Orlando -- moms in their 30s who have lived in Central Florida for years -- have yet to get hooked.

"They have no idea," Powers said. "I've tried to school them on the wonderful opportunity they have."
