As is my usual Summer pattern, I have, literally, been playing Brasil '66 music all summer. Even re-watched for the 20th time, some great video compilations from their appearances on the Tom Jones Show, as well as selected Herb Alpert TV specials. That sound hooks you from the first note.. As I've gotten older I've come to better appreciate what an incredibly talented, savvy and resilient man he was, taking what could have been and should have been a career-ending moment -his band deciding to all quit at the same time- and his being both smart enough and resilient enough to finally have his eureka moment and know what it was that had been missing from his sound. The problem was that all of the 300 million plus people in the EU could equally come here. Many did: while there are just over a million UK citizens in the EU, there are over 6 million EU citizens here. That's why things had to change.
