Sorry for the long time in between posts. It certainly wasn't from lack of 1,001 things to discuss, so I'll be sharing those thoughts with you here in the the coming days, starting on Monday, unless I'm hit by one of the tens of thousands of lightning bolts that have been raining down on Florida the past few weeks, and already come close several times to actually zapping me.  

But for now on this very first day of August 2026, just 17 days before the 2026 Florida primary election, I have this little gold nugget I've been meaning to share the past few days.  

On Monday I'll be highlighting this and other examples of city and county governments in Florida getting a sarcastic taste of their own medicine, as they continue to break the Florida state legislature's explicit warning forbidding local and county governments from using taxpayer funds and resources to promote any position on a general election ballot issue.

Government should not use taxes to preach, despite the fact that in Florida in general and Broward in particular, we've seen a long history of just that kind of behavior,

Obviously, the Florida League of Cities and individual cities and CRAs, among others, are doing everything they can and then some to defeat the property tax ballot issue in November, whether legal or not.

But so, too, are some well-known lobbyists who don't want to see their billings take a big hit from suddenly-shrunken government clients.

Yet where are the stories about that on TV or in the newspaper?  

Perhaps we will finally start seeing such stories sooner than you think.
