Google's Sergey Brin previewing new 'Google Glasses'; England U-21 goalkeeper Ben Amos wearing Google-cam while balls are kicked at him during practice. The mind reels at the possibilities of this!; Wait until iJustine gets a pair of these!; @iJustine

England video: England U-21 goalkeeper Ben Amos wears The FA TV's Goggle-cam during a crossing training session. Uploaded September 8, 2012. http://youtu.be/egOtUmoE7Mo

This awesome video of England U-21 and Hull City goalie Ben Amos wearing Google-cam glasses while soccer balls are flying towards him during practice causes the mind to reel at the myriad possibilities of this, both training and entertainment!

(Or, in the hand of blogger iJustine, priceless. I'd be willing to bet that there's already someone at Google HQ in Mountain View trying to figure out how they can speed-up the process so that Justine Ezarik can get a pair in her hands -and on her oh-so cute face- and start evangelizing the product in her usual original and amusing ways via videos that capture the eyeballs of lots of early adaptors.)

Hypothetically, in its simplest form, at a minimum, you could equip a striker wearing one pair of Google-cam glasses on a breakaway and a goalie wearing a pair moving out to block and you could see both points-of-views via a split-screen on TV, during a quick replay following a shot on goal, or via a sub-channel like what NASCAR does on DirecTV with driver-cam showing the view of individual drivers.

#Euro2012 -Video of BBC's controversial edition of Panorama titled, "Euro 2012 Stadiums of Hate" on the rampant violence, racism & anti-Semitism at football matches in Poland and Ukraine that has inflamed millions; Sol Campbell urges fans to "stay away"; BBC's response to criticism of program

BBC's Panorama "Stadiums of Hate" May 28, 2012.
http://youtu.be/E0f259wCerY

I actually meant to post this controversial video of the May 28th broadcast of the BBC's investigative program Panorma in my last post early this morning about the racist outbursts from the crowd -a minority of the 25,000 there to be sure- at the Dutch training session in Poland on Thursday, but perhaps it's for the best that it now has its own post.

Yesterday, the BBC posted this clip on their website from former England captain Sol Campbell's criticism of Poland and Ukraine being selected as co-hosts for Euro 2012 before they showed they're capable of running something like this BEFORE they've got a firm handle on the overt racism and anti-Semitism present at football matches in their countries, has really riled millions in the two countries, as well as Poles and Ukrainians living in Great Britain.
But many have agreed with his analysis that they weren't worthy in the first place, given  how self-evident the problems STILL are.

Today on the BBC's website, the show's editor, Tom Giles, has posted his response to criticisms of the program on their "The Editors" blog, which I happen to subscribe to:

'Stadiums of Hate': Legitimate and fair
By Tom Giles
18:28 UK time, Friday, 8 June 2012
When an investigative current affairs programme like Panorama broadcasts a programme called Euro 2012: Stadiums of Hate 11 days before a major football tournament and which reveals shocking images of racist abuse and violence in the host countries - controversy is to be expected.

Jubilant! Liam Gallagher's best day of the year! Watches his Man. City beat Man. United, take over top of Premier League in global telecast seen by 650 million, tweets about meeting Maradona, and then crashes press conference

My biggest fear when I woke up Monday morning was that the scheduled torrential downpours in South Florida would come during the broadcast of the Manchester Derby on ESPN at 3 p.m., and absolutely ruin things, since I have DirecTV and I lose reception during those sort of heavy end-of-the-world thunderstorms we get down here.
Or that Manchester would have similar weather during the match in this, the wettest April in recorded history.

Fortunately for me, everything happened before and after in my corner of South Florida and City won a fabulous game.
Well, at least one team I root for actually wins!

I'd have posted all this all sooner, as well as posts about the FA's Roy Hodgson vs. "people's choice" Harry Redknapp public debate over the manager of the English National Team, but the perpetual downpours we've had down here of late have played havoc with my access to the AT&T server, rendering me frustrated.
More on this very soon, though, as it's the burr under everyone's saddle there.

So very, very distressing to see and to contemplate...

This morning on BBC Radio 5 live during Victoria Derbyshire's program, Bolton Wanders captain Kevin Davies said that any discussion of the team's competing in future FA Cup matches while teammate Fabrice Muamba clings to life, were completely irrelevant.
http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/News/2012/Mar/fa-cup-semi-final-draw.aspx

The latest report this morning from London Chest Hospital was that Fabrice Muamba is stable but remains critically ill. http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1004~2664324,00.html

Saturday's game against Blackburn Rovers may be abandoned, and Tuesday's match against Aston Villa has already been postponed thru mutual agreement.

Who Will Host the 2018 World Cup?

The most secretive bidding process in sports
.

By Simon Kuper
Updated Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at 8:14 AM ET

Three years ago, when the bidding to host the World Cups of 2018 and 2022 was just getting going, a lobbyist explained to me how the decisions would be made. Over lunch at the International Football Arena in Zurich—a cozy annual gathering of the game's power brokers—he led me on to the terrace for a quiet word. There, he emphasised that what "the world" thought about the various bidding countries wouldn't matter much. Instead, the only voters were "24 old men." He meant the members of Fifa's executive committee (Exco), who will choose the hosts for 2018 and 2022 in Zurich this Thursday. The lobbyist and his partner, he added, "know those 24 men better than anyone. We know their strengths, we know their weaknesses."
