Nothing you can say can do it justice.

Once again, Jimmy Kimmel Live Show adroitly skewers puffery, smugness and pomposity, this time, average people talking about having watched the Ravens-49ers Super Bowl Game that's still days from being played; #nfl, #superbowl47
This humorous effort of Jimmy and his writers to really skewer average people's pomposity, with humorous results, actually reminds me most of the uninformed comments I've heard stated the past nine years on Miami-area TV newscasts as elected officials pontificated about things after-the-fact that they were clearly only dimly familiar with after having actually voted.
Or, just like attending and carefully watching a Hallandale Beach City Commission.
Everyone's afraid to say that they didn't know, don't know or are unfamiliar with a topic, so they try to "wing it."
Hallandale Beach looks the way that it does and is run as poorly as it is because too many highly-paid people in responsible positions have been "winging it" for years.
But Hallandale Beach is not alone on that score in South Florida, just where I happen to live and a place that I'm most highly observant of.
In the new year, you will hear more on this blog about other cities and agencies that have been run similarly, with little concern for actually delivering a dollar's worth of service for a dollar's worth of taxes, and a refusal to face reality when presented with the true facts by citizens and activists.
'God Bless America' - The feel-good American comedy of the summer from Magnolia Pictures involves an armed serial killer with annoyance issues and the pop culture-obsessed teen girl who wants to ride 'shotgun' on his journey. Starring Joel Murray and Tara Lynne Barr, the film opens in theatres on May 11th.
Original video was pulled off YouTube, so I have gone back and replaced it with this "best of one! ABC-TV video: Jimmy Kimmel's YouTube Challenge - I Silverstoned My Kid. Uploaded April 3, 2012. http://youtu.be/G4qAVY5RSR8 I originally saw this story and video at The Telegraph on Tuesday but decided not to post it. Until now!
Keep in mind that per the discussion above, while the TOUCH World Premiere is on Monday March 19th at 9 pm Eastern, you can see the first episode -that was given a sneak preview by Fox-TV this past Wednesday and won its time-slot- right now on Fox'sVideo-on-Demand (VOD).
The show's creator is Tim Kring, the executive producer for both NBC-TV'sCrossing Jordan, starring longtime HBB favorite Jill Hennessey, and NBC'sHeroes.

Florrie Arnold, our favorite British 'Next Big Thing,' is back in the studio: reading, writing & recording. Hurrah!
The dynamic singer/drummer/guitar-player from Bristol is shown above performing "Begging Me," the infectious song that I've mentioned previously, here, which in these dog days of sweltering August, is STILL the number-one song I hum to myself in the car while stuck in South Florida traffic gridlock, of which we have so much, giving me so many more chances than a normal American to croon or hum it.
I've avoided a few chances this summer to mention what's new with Florrie because it hasn't really risen to the point of something worthwhile visually I could share, per se.
But early this morning, around 2 a.m., I received her latest blog post and it contained the news that I and her other fans have been waiting for, now that her six song Experiments EP has been out for a while. (Songs can STILL be listened to FREE on her website, bought on ITunes.)
After another few days of being in the studio, and then a photo shoot for the cover of her next album, she's flying out to L.A. next Thursday to work with some talented folks who are aiming to help her on her next project and, hopefully, get her the sort of attention she deserves on this side of the Atlantic.
Florrie - I Took A Little Something (2011). Directed by Justin Wu.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention two things that I've thought of a lot the past few months, starting with when I first watched Robyn perform and dazzle on ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live show, which I wrote about on April 14th in a post I titled
Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend & Dancing on My Own - ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live; 13-Year-Old Girls Ruining American Idol Vote -and U.S. film industry!
Florrie would absolutely KILL on that show, esp. dressed as she is in the video in Dolce & Gabbana.
She'd positively send some of the audience into orbit and leave the rest of them slack-jawed.
The second thing is, IFFlorrie has the time and gets the chance -are you listening out there?- since I know that she will be back in L.A. from Skåne by then, could someone from her team please ring up Jennifer Åkermanand arrange to meet Jen somewhere so that she can show Florrie around the town she now knows so well?
It would do everyone involved some good, not least of all, music fans.
A couple of helpful introductions here and there, interspersed with a few hours devoted to bouncing creative ideas off of one another, some shared laughs and a few drinks over dinner to see if there's something these two talented songbirds could do together in the future...
I'd kill to hear a few duets from them somewhere on Sunset... table for four, up near the front if it's alright with you.
Just thinking out loud...
But just because I'm thinking out loud here, doesn't mean that it's still not a VERY GOOD idea!
Los Angeles Times 24 Frames blog Critical Mass: 'Thor' swings his hammer and the critics scream By Patrick Kevin Day May 6, 2011 2:55 p.m.
Bridges are the key theme of this weekend's "Thor," a film that bridges us from the doldrums of spring releases to the flashier, if not better, world of summer blockbusters. It also serves as another step in the bridge from the first "Iron Man" in 2008 to next summer's superhero all-star jam, "The Avengers." And within the film itself, a superhero actioner about the Norse god of thunder and his adventures in his home of Asgard and on Earth, a rainbow bridge connects the well-regarded Asgard sections of the film with the less successful Earth sections, set in Puente Antiguo, N.M. (which means "Old Bridge").
Above, as promised last night, the two videos of Robyn performing on last night's Jimmy Kimmel Live TV show, plus, two wild cards.

As most of you regular readers to the blog know by now, I DON'T watch Fox-TV'sAmerican Idol, since actual singing talent is NOT the main focus of the show like TV singing competition shows in other countries,
It never hurts, of course, to be ridiculously talented AND ridiculously good-looking likeÉlodie Frégé, the 2004 winner of Star Academy in la belle France, whom I mentioned here on Valentine's Day, when I also ran the great infectious video below. She's a super-talent, plus, nous partageonslamême date d'anniversaire!
Robyn - Hang With Me (Official Video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3a2qoyONVA Once I got back home from tonight's Hallandale Beach City Commission Workshop, leaving after just an hour due to boredom, leaving only one HB citizen in the Chambers, I decided to blow-off checking my email until I caught some things on the tube.
Which is why I only just found out that longtime HBB favorite, Swedish songbird Robyn, will be a guest tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live at 12:05 a.m.
I will likely have video of her performance(s) here on the blog within the next next 36 hours, but until then, I'm going to leave you with three videos that connect to her.
The first, at top, is her wonderful video I posted here last July 28th: Road-tripping across the U.K in an RV with a Swedish pop star is fun... Robyn - Hang With Me (Official Video) http://hallandalebeachblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/road-tripping-across-uk-in-rv-with.html

I must admit that before Monday night/Tuesday morning, I'd never heard of comedian/writerMike Birbiglia, who appeared on ABC-TV'sJimmy Kimmel Live and made me laugh from the word go.
In retrospect, that might've been the funniest thing I've seen on TV this year, other than perhaps the video clips of "Jeff from Tallahassee" on Fox News Channel'sRed Eye program, a subject of a previous post on January 18th: The funniest discovery of the new year: "Jeff from Tallahassee" on Red Eye; reminds me of the Steve & Garry, Don & Mike comic genius I miss http://hallandalebeachblog.blogspot.com/2011/01/funniest-discovery-of-new-year-jeff.html
What I heard and saw proved to be both true-to-life and very, very funny -a virtual reservoir of comic gold to mine. I would definitely see this show if it ever came to South Florida. Watch the clips and I think you'll agree.
The Village Voice My Girlfriend's Boyfriend--Better Off Wed Mike Birbiglia returns with another comic one-man show By Alexis Soloski Wednesday, Apr 6 2011
Is there a comedian cuddlier than Mike Birbiglia? His girth and dress sense suggest a fraternity brother gone to seed, but his pleading eyes and plangent voice give him the air of a little boy lost. During his new show, My Girlfriend's Boyfriend at Barrow Street Theatre, his disclosure of past humiliations elicited volleys of sympathetic sighs. When he took his bows at the end, some women in the audience seemed to barely restrain themselves from rushing the stage and subjecting him to a mass embrace.

Mike Birbiglia's new CD Sleepwalk With Me Live will be released by Comedy Central Records on April 19 http://www.playbill.com/news/article/149724-Mike-Birbiglias-Sleepwalk-With-Me-Live-Will-Be-Released-by-Comedy-Central-Records
I watched this LIVE the other night/morning and thought that Katie Holmes acquitted herself quite well and came across -as usual- as very likable and thoughtful, just as she always has in the past, starting when I first came to know her character of Joey Potter on Dawson's Creek.
Watching this interview and Jimmy Kimmel's emphasis on her husband Tom Cruise and her daughter Suri, I actually thought back to the Rolling Stone interview I first read back in 1998, where in reading about her sweet, earnest Midwestern ethos, she seemed, well, almost too-bright and too-good for Hollywood. Almost too good to be true. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/photos/more-katie-holmes-20010125
It could hardly be clearer that she has put in a tremendous amount of hard work, deep thinking and research into her acting for this mini-series as well as carefully considered the answers she'd give after playing such an iconic American for whom so many people of a certain age still have such very strong feelings about.
In the hands of someone else, this is a role that could easily have been a caricature, and simply played itself out as a fashion show with a gorgeous Katie acting as a mannequin. But to her credit, and that of the writers and producers and other actors, having watched this program every night from the beginning on The Reelz Channel, once you get used to her in the outfits, rather than her being played cute, coy or insufferable, she comes across as someone who was neither naive or a push-over.
From my point of view, it's really been quite good, and I say that as someone who had already read all the classic JFK books by the time I was out of NMB High School, including the William Manchester and Jim Bishop books. I've had the Seymour Hersh book, The Dark Side of Camelot, since it came out as a paperback, and re-read parts of it last week in preparing to watch the series before it started a few days ago. As I've mentioned here previously, my parents saw President & Mrs. Kennedy the day before Dallas, when they flew into San Antonio's Kelly AFB, where my parents both worked, when my father was in the Air Force and my mother was the Base Commander's secretary. (I was born next-door at the Lackland AFB hospital.)
Like so many others on the base, they watched them nearby on the tarmac as the two of them went thru the receiving line after getting off of Air Force One. And that wonderful photo of them, taken by the base photographer, more than any great iconic photo that you can probably think of, isTHE photo that my two sisters and I grew-up with of the Kennedy's. It's the one that, quite literally, has been in my head since I could remember anything.
Personally, I'd love to share that 'family' photo with you all, but the moment I do that, I know that it will soon be "lifted," probably within an hour, and immediately used for some purpose for which it was NOT intended -and the photographer would never get the proper credit.
There's a LOT of that going on in the blogosphere and on the Internet, some of it much closer to home in South Florida than you may think.
Reelz Channelwill be airing the first six episodes on both Saturday and Sunday - Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. The final two episodes airing on Sunday at 8 p.m., with an encore at 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. http://www.reelzchannel.com/kennedys/
ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Show, February 28, 2011Kimmel Kartoon - Charlie Brown and Charlie Sheen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhgWRTr3oIg “Born ready. Winning.” -Charlie Sheen, 2011
I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw this! For a while now, I've been thinking that the producers and creative people at Jimmy Kimmel's TV show in Los Angeles were showing more outside-the-box imagination and creativity than almost anyone else on TV, right up there with the producers, writers and actors at Castle, The Mentalist, Medium, Friday Night Lights, Human Target, HOUSE, Southland, The Closer, Rizzoli & Isles, and The Good Wife, all TV shows that I never ever miss. I especially like the segment on the show where they show interviews or clips from TV shows and censor dialogue to make it appear that the individuals are actually swearing at inappropriate times. You'd think that would get old, but it's always funny. Later tonight, longtime South Beach Hoosier favorite Howard Stern will be the big guest. My mornings haven't been the same since he moved to satellite radio.

TheWrap Shhhh ... 5 of Hollywood’s Secret Social Clubs From the poker table to the hardwood to the far right wing, these Hollywood hangouts require a Hollywood pedigree By Mikey GlazerMarch 28, 2010
Yeah, that's right -- Hollywood has secret clubs. And it ain't that new spot Drai’s at the W in Hollywood.
For these clubs, it's not enough to know someone to get in. First you have to know they exist.
From hoops to poker to right-wing politics, they’re secretive in nature and selective in membership. And in an appropriate twist, TV super-spy (Zach Levi) belongs to two of them.
TheWrap went sleuthing to bring you the full reveal of Hollywood's secret social scene.

Michael Uslan's funny2006 IU Bloomington Commencement Address Michael Uslan, originator of the Batman films, describes his long journey from Bloomington to Batman, and it reads as funny now as it did the first time I read it. Not unlike IU grad and media & technology genius Mark Cuban, this is one very smart, funny and insightful guy who "gets it."
In an entertainment world that actually made sense, Uslan would alreadyhave an additional gig as the host of a popular and influential TV program dealing with the intersection of pop culture and media, and the tension between creatives and 'the suits,' but withoutNPR's usual pretensiousness or PBS' deadly earnest seriousness.
So, where is that program now, exactly, the one you'd expect to already find on Bravoif the Cable TVindustry was really giving its viewers what they wanted?
